I loved the location of this hotel. It was only four blocks from the south entrance of the Garden of the gods. The setting was beautiful as it was at the base of the mountains and there were deer roaming on the other side of the back fence. The grounds had a very quaint, homey atmosphere with a pool, picnic tables, volleyball net and small basketball court on the back of the hotel rooms. This is an older establishment but was well kept and the owner was very friendly and pleasant. Our room included a kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. We stayed there in the fall and found the price to be very reasonable. I would definitely recommend it and plan to go back another time.

This was my first time in Colorado but it will not be my last. It seems like a smooth transition under new ownership. The staff was helpful the room was very clean. The lodge is centrally located, horse riding next door, you walk out and the garden of the gods is like the backyard. While vacationing my husband ended up in hospital the staff went above and beyond to help me, canceling our planned activities and checking to see all was well with him and I. I highly recommend staying here. You will not be disappointed.
Pros: the staff was helpful
Location: so many nearby activities

You can tell this isn’t one of those chain lodges. This is a family owned place. How can you tell? First, the customer service was AMAZING! So polite and helpful! Second, the cleanliness! These people REALLY took pride into their lodge. I have NEVER seen a place as homey and clean in my entire life. Also, the location was amazing! We were less than 10 minutes from Garden of the Gods and getting to the Manitou Springs was a breeze. We got to our bedrooms and we see these clunky looking a/c units, we think, “oh god, do these work?” Yes! They work so well we got up in the middle of the night to turn them down because we didn’t realize they had such power. And in 100-degree weather, it’s such a relief to know the a/c units work! Also, the showers were spotless. I know someone from our group needed another towel and it was so easy, they walked over and boom, no waiting, no hassle, just a friendly “Here you go! Let us know if you need anything else.” The pool looked clean, but we didn’t go in it, we were only there for a night and were exhausted from the day. We did have the continental breakfast which was pretty typical. Make your own waffles, coffee, fruit, a toaster, and bread. Pretty usual stuff. Also, we were half-way between their two wifi points so we didn’t get internet because neither was strong enough, but it just made us go to sleep earlier, which is what we needed anyway after a long day of touring Colorado Springs.
Pros: Everything! The customer service was the best I’ve ever seen. Everyone was friendly and helpful and eager without being overbearing! It was so clean!
Cons: The wi-fi, but if you’re there in CO springs you probably aren’t going to be using that much anyway.
Location: Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, Miramont Castle (and Victorian High Noon Tea), Pikes Peak Cog Railway, Broadmoor, Seven Falls

First things first: this place is NOT fancy, so if you’re looking for a swanky resort you’re going to be disappointed. But if you want a comfortable, quirky, welcoming place full of character and charm where the owners clearly care about the lodge itself and the guests who stay there, then seriously stop reading reviews and go book a room here immediately. It’s in a super convenient location, has the friendliest staff I’ve ever met, and offers rooms that are thoughtfully appointed–no fussy floral arrangements or Keurig pots with too few coffee pods, but instead there are chairs on the porches outside each room and sometimes deer will wander through the grounds! So if you want an upscale hotel experience, keep driving; but if you want to stay someplace that feels like home, you’ve found it. We were so sad to leave, and look forward to coming back soon!

This place was so fun and homey. Dave was extremely helpful, friendly and funtastic. It was very clear that he enjoys his position the lodge, and he was running around keeping the breakfast area stocked, and assisting people at the desk and anything else that came up. We stayed in a family suite which was very comfy. They’re really cool little 2 bedroom bungalow style rooms. Perfect location too. Very close to attractions yet very quiet. We would definitely stay here again when in the area.

Awesome place with awesome new owners. Great location for hiking and shopping was a 5 minute drive up the road. Amazing local restaurants nearby and all around great experience. This is not for luxury or anyone interested in outstanding WiFi and satellite tv, but if you’re looking to get outdoors and meet friendly people this place is perfect. It looks a bit rundown on the outside, but rooms were clean and spacious and everything was up to date for us. Privacy but with the opportunity to meet people too. Pool was nice. Breakfast filling. Would go again in a heart beat.

This little hotel is in a great location! Very close to Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak, and has many restaurants and other stores nearby as well. New owners had just taken over at the time of our stay, and they were doing well to get things running their way. Our lodge was at the far end of the grounds, but still walkable to the pool and main lodge with parking right in front of our room. The room was a good size and cozy with easy to adjust air conditioning. The only issue we ran into was that the wifi didn’t work in our room because of our distance away from the main lodge (which the owner had warned us about) but it was easy to connect to the wifi in the main lodge when we needed it. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable about the area and things to do and see. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to retreat after a day of taking in all Colorado Springs has to offer.

New owners of the motel were so accommodating- checked in and TV wouldn’t work. Moved us to a bigger room w working TV. Swimming area was private and very comfortable. Had a “homey” atmosphere and people were very friendly.

This is a wonderful place to stay if you like staff remembering your names, a place where families or friends can get rooms close together, and a quiet retreat from the fast pace of life. The new owners have a wonderful vision for the Lodge and we look forward to a return trip to see what they have done with this quaint motel. We booked a room using Expedia and so did my brother; they opted for the kitchenette and that’s what we will get next time. Our room was basic and fit our needs, so if you need a comfortable place to sleep, this will be fine for you. If you need more elbow room, consider the kitchenette.
Pros: Location, easy to get to everywhere we needed to be, friendly, helpful staff.
Cons: Some of the furnishings/mattresses needed to be repaired or replaced, but I’d give the new owners a chance to get after it.
Location: It’s close to Manitou Springs and Old Colorado City.
